Sharan Sekhon is a Partner at Ragghianti Freitas LLP, where she counsels individuals, business owners, and families on estate planning, business succession planning, trust administration and probate. With an LL.M. in Taxation, she integrates tax planning into every estate plan from the start, so nothing gets missed.
Sharan’s estate planning practice encompasses the full range of what clients actually need: drafting revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and health care directives; advising on generation-skipping transfer tax planning and multigenerational wealth transfer; and guiding families through trust administration and probate when a loved one has passed. She works closely with CPAs, financial advisors, and fiduciaries to coordinate tax reporting, valuations, and the ongoing management of a complex plan. Her goal is to make the process feel manageable, not overwhelming, especially during life’s harder moments.
For business owners, Sharan understands that an estate plan can’t be designed in isolation from the business itself. She advises on entity structure, buy-sell agreements, and ownership transfer strategies, helping clients think through what happens to the business when they step back, whether that means passing it to the next generation, a co-owner, or an outside buyer. These conversations take time to get right, and Sharan brings patience and practical judgment to all of them.
Before focusing on estate planning, Sharan built her legal career across federal and state tax advisory work at a leading professional services firm, transactional and governance work at a large international law firm, and IRS representation for individuals and small business owners in audits, appeals, and litigation. That range of experience is why she approaches every estate plan not just as a legal document, but as a living strategy that should hold up over time.
Sharan calls Marin County home, drawn by its trails, open space, and tight-knit community, and more than a passing resemblance to the Pacific Northwest where she grew up. Outside the office, she can be found hiking the Marin Headlands with her family, e-biking through Marin, and exploring the Bay Area’s best restaurants.
