Sharan Sekhon is a Partner at Ragghianti Freitas LLP, where she counsels high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and families on estate planning, business law, trust administration and probate matters. Drawing on a multidisciplinary background that spans estate planning, federal taxation, and state and local tax, Sharan brings a uniquely sophisticated perspective to helping clients protect and transfer their wealth in a tax-efficient manner across generations.
Sharan’s estate planning practice encompasses the full range of wealth planning strategies, from drafting revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and health care directives, to advising on generation-skipping transfer tax planning and multigenerational wealth transfer. She also works with closely held business owners to ensure their estate plans reflect their succession and family goals. She works closely with CPAs, financial advisors, and fiduciaries to coordinate tax reporting, valuations, and the ongoing administration of complex estate plans. She also guides clients through trust administration and probate proceedings, providing clear and compassionate counsel during sensitive transitions.
Sharan also maintains a business law practice advising entrepreneurs, startups, and closely held businesses on the legal needs that arise throughout the lifecycle of a business. She assists clients with entity formation and selection, corporate governance, operating and shareholder agreements, and contract drafting and review. Drawing on her background in tax and estate planning, Sharan brings a holistic perspective to business representation, helping owners not only build and protect their businesses, but plan for what comes next.
Prior to focusing her practice on estate planning and business law, Sharan gained broad tax experience advising clients on federal, state and local tax matters at two of the nation’s leading professional services firms, as well as transactional and governance experience in a large law firm setting. She also represented individuals and small business owners before the IRS in audits, appeals, and litigation. This depth of experience across tax and business law informs her ability to integrate thoughtful tax planning into every estate plan she crafts.
Outside of the office, Sharan enjoys e-biking through Marin, spending time with her family and exploring restaurants around SF Bay Area.
