Riley F. Hurd III

Riley F. Hurd III was born and raised in Marin County, California. After attending St. Ignatius High School, Mr. Hurd obtained a degree in Environmental Policy and Analysis Planning from the University of California at Davis. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was a member of the Pace National Environmental Moot Court Team.

Mr. Hurd specializes in land use issues in Marin County and throughout the state. He has appeared multiple times in front of every Planning Commission, City Council, and Town Council within the County of Marin. Having previously served as the Deputy City Attorney for both the City of Belvedere and the Town of San Anselmo, Mr. Hurd has acquired significant experience in the application of land use and zoning laws, the Subdivision Map Act, interpretations of the Brown Act, and FPPC regulations.

Mr. Hurd's land use practice ranges from single family home easement and tree disputes, to some of the most sophisticated and noteworthy development projects within the County. He also serves as District Counsel for the Novato Fire Protection District and Sanitary District No. 5 of Marin County (Belvedere/Tiburon).

Prior to joining Ragghianti Freitas, Mr. Hurd practiced all aspects of litigation in Orange County, California. Mr. Hurd has successfully completed the OCBA College of Trial Advocacy program as well as the ABOTA Masters in Trial program.
