Robert F. Epstein
City attorney. Private civil litigation lawyer. Mediator. Since joining the firm in 1994, Rob Epstein has focused his practice on all three of these areas. He continues to represent individuals and businesses in a variety of litigation matters, including wills and trusts disputes, boundary line cases, land use writs and appeals, partnership disputes, and real estate and contract litigation. He has conducted jury trials in the counties of Mendocino, Monterey, Orange, Solano, and Sonoma, as well as Marin.
Mr. Epstein was elected city attorney of San Rafael in 2007. He also has served as the retained city attorney for the cities of Belvedere and San Anselmo since 2006.
Mr. Epstein has successfully mediated numerous cases, and is regularly appointed as a mediator by the United States District Court in San Francisco.
Mr. Epstein also has served on many occasions as a volunteer judge pro tem for the Marin County Superior Court.
Mr. Epstein is a Board Member of the California Joint Powers Risk Management Authority, a municipal insurance pool in which the City of San Rafael is a member. In addition, on behalf of the City Attorneys Department of the League of California Cities, Mr. Epstein serves as a member of the committee that provides input and oversight concerning the Fair Political Practices Commission.
Mr. Epstein is past president of the Richard M. Sangster American Inn of Court (Marin/Sonoma/Napa), past president of the board of Legal Aid of Marin, and past vice president of the board of the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center.
